The fifth ComputingStuff LAN Party

The fifth ComputingStuff LAN party was held at Toby's (KamaKase) house on 3rd January 2005 in celebration of Christmas and the New Year.

This was one of the least planned LAN parties ever, and this was because the time around Christmas and the New Year is very difficult to plan for as so many people already have commitments and plans from well in advance. As a result, many of the members were not able to attend the party.

This time around, only four people signed up to attend for the above reasons, but this did not lead to a worse party overall - the Christmas and New Year spirit was definitely there!

The party got off to a somewhat staggered start, with people arriving at different times. Toby (KamaKase) lives the farthest away of all the ComputingStuff members, and finding the house in a village in an unfamiliar location was difficult at best. The room was already set up with all sorts of power points, Simon's (PCRanger) network switch and server and food to feed the millions. Populars on the menu included chocolate biscuits, Twiglets and square crisps.

This time around there was only one main problem throughout the whole day, this time being Dan's (slightly_demented) machine, which refused to start Rollcage. Undefeated, Dan switched to playing a quick refresher game of Unreal Tournament 2004 before the other had time to catch up and set up a LAN game. The main game of the day was of course Unreal Tournament; we lost count of the number of games that were played. This must have been a good sign! A couple of games of Rollcage were also slipped in there somewhere. File sharing wise, there was little on the network this time around except for game patches.

As usual, pizzas were ordered, and we took the risk and called in the order. Amazingly, the pizza arrived on time, hot and in the right quantities and with the right toppings. This must have been a first for the pizza delivery companies! Toby made sure that we were all as fed as could be with his banquet of sweeties!

All in all, a good time was had by all!TM
