The fourth ComputingStuff LAN Party
The fourth ComputingStuff LAN party was held at Dan's (slightly_demented) house on 27th October 2004 in celebration of the October school half-term.
This party must have been the one planned for the longest amount of time. Ever since the day after the last party, planning went into organising this one, comprising of choosing a date, finding a suitable host and informing members.
Once again, people were pursuded to sign up officially to aid the organisers. It worked out well. This time around, the LAN party intranet was hosted locally on the day, and it had much more information on it, including network settings, game details and setups plus details of servers where gigabytes worth of data was waiting to be shared. In practise, this intranet organisation helped a lot.
At the beginning, seven members has signed up to attend. However, Toby (KamaKase) had other work as so was unable to attend. Matt (matty_c) was unfortunately down with the flu, and so opted to stay at home.
The party got off to a good start, which can be attributed to the timely arrival of all the members. More games were probably played overall in this party than any other before it.
As problems go, there were much fewer than usual, however, there cannot be an event without a hitch, and this time, it was Stu's (sparky) machine which was playing up on the network. Thanks to a little encouragement by Ruben (wackomenace) and expertise courtesy of Simon (PCRanger), it was back up and gaming, albeit a little late.
As usual, pizzas were ordered, but this time, we took the precaution of actually visiting the pizza takeaway to make sure we got what we wanted. Dan (slightly_demented) has also layed out a plethora of food on the table, and it didn't take long for the chocolate biscuits to disappear.
All in all, a good time was had by all!TM
