The third ComputingStuff LAN Party

The third ComputingStuff LAN party was held at Jon's (computer_brain) house on 27th July 2004 in celebration of the end of compulsory schooling!

This party had the most amount of forward planning put into it so far, although the final date had only been decided a few days beforehand. In a further blow, Simon (PCRanger), the ringleader, was in Spain until the day before the party, and Dan (slightly_demented) was going away on the day of the party. Despite these setbacks, and working long days trying to make sure that the party was going to go ahead, the party did arrive and all went pretty much to plan.

Again, people were pursuded to sign up officially to aid the organisers. It worked out well. The LAN party intranet site was also updated, and members were able to use it to leech files off other users.

In his classical difference, Matt (matty_c) arrived with the contents of his PC in his backpack, and proceeded to unload it all over the table. He ran his PC out of his motherboard box for the whole party, and I must say it worked out pretty well. Luckily, nobody stuck any fingers in or spilled fizzy stuff over the processor or electricals.

Owing to another prior arrangement, Toby (KamaKase) arrived late to the party, but set up his equipment very quickly, and after a short argument regarding crossover and patch cables with me, Matt (matty_c) and Jon (computer_brain), he got right into the games and started winning.

As usual, pizzas were ordered, but due to the phone's poor reception and (one can only guess) the blondeness factor of the answering lady, half the order wasn't delivered. Not ones to be put off so easily, we shared instead.

Unfortunately, the videos of the games in action were unable to be taken, owing to 0 byte sized movie files. Argh!

All in all, a good time was had by all!
